House training your puppy is the first thing you will need to teach any new puppy. When you get him home he may already be a little house trained - if not then lot's of old newspapers are the trick.

The trick with house training is to start by getting the puppy to wee and poo on the paper in the room you keep him in. Then slowly move the paper to your outside door, this will show your puppy where he needs to go. This will take a few weeks, although do not be tempted to rush it.

Having your puppy chew through your living room door or chewing your best shoes is expensive also. Training your puppy to be content, when left alone, is a must, remember, while you're at work, your puppy is alone, waiting for you to come home, not a lot of fun, without something to do.

Train your puppy to walk on the lead, and come back when called, keeping him under control, and safe from being lost. Never take your puppy out to areas where you know other dogs have been, before your puppies' last vaccination booster.

Taking your puppy to the vets is the next big step in your puppies' life; he will need his second booster vaccination, if you have collected him at eight weeks. Throughout your puppies lifetime you should make sure your dog stays healthy, through the right diet and exercise.

Having regular vet check ups and the right preventative care. One of the biggest general issues, of having a puppy, is training. Make time to train your young dog; allowing your puppy to socialise with others will help them to pick up social skills. Puppies need to roll, tumble and play with each other, regular playing, exercise and walking, will make him a happier, more well behaved puppy, a happy puppy is easer to train.
