Standard poodle
The Standard Poodle is one of three varieties of the same breed (the others being miniature and toy). In various colours from black and silver to grey and white, they make fantastic pets as are very loving. Their tails are set high and docked and their eyes are usually black or brown. The head and neck is long.

These dogs are easily trained. Standard poodles make great companions. Learning obedience easily they tend to be cautious with people on the whole - which is where they bark a lot! Generally a very friendly dog they can be gentle, although are very loyal to their owners. Good with youngsters, they make wonderful pets and good watchdogs. |
Health issues : |
May be prone to ear infections and skin conditions, also watch out for heart disorders and digestive problems. |
Exercise : |
Generally very active dogs that appreciate a good, long walk. Runs in the park are also good for them and for you the walker! |
Life expectancy : |
They tend to live up to the age of around 12-15 years. |
Grooming : |
Grooming them is essential and with all the hair - quite a task. They must be bathed regularly and cleaned meticulously. |
