Bichon frise

The Bichon Frise can be described as a charming puffball of a dog with its soft, silky undercoat is short and is virtually hypo-allergenic. The Bichon Frise is usually all white, but can come in cream, grey and even yellowy shades. It is often trimmed like a poodle or long-haired with clippings only at the feet and muzzle. The Bichon Frise has a non pointed moderate muzzle with a scissors bite and dark eyes. This breed has ears that down and are mostly covered with hair. It has a long neck and its tail is carried high and is usually curved over its back.




Temperament :

The Bichon Frise is a charming affectionate gentle dog that really enjoys human company. It is a very sociable dog and this is the same with other dogs and pets. However due to some careless over breeding in the 80s some may be a little snappy. This can be easily overcome with good training, affection, and by finding them from reputable breeders. This is a lively, playful small dog that is intelligent and can be easily trained.

Health issues :

They are susceptible to flea bites as well as epilepsy and dislocated kneecaps. They also often have some watery eyes and cataract as well as skin and ear problems.

Exercise :

Although they do love walks, their playfulness is usually gives them enough exercise even if they are mostly indoors.

Life expectancy :

They should usually live for about fifteen years or more.

Grooming :

Although they shed little hair they should be groomed regularly and bathed every month. They should be trimmed around their eyes and ears with blunt scissors, and eyes to be kept clean. Professional grooming is recommended every month.
