Terriers

Did you know that the terrier dogs were actually bred and used for hunting vermin! 'Terrier' comes from the Latin word Terra (which means earth). Terriers were bred to be extremely brave and tough, and to pursue foxes, badgers, rats and other vermin above and below ground. Around since the Middle Ages, these game dogs have been portrayed by writers and painters alike and it is believed that the British Isles are the origin of most terriers.
